I model and render in Modo. I used 1 dark gray material with blurry reflections. All of the lighting is from 1 IBL light probe. -And thanks to everyone for the kind words!

Wow, awesomo scene todiej! +1 for breakdowns, especially lighting. I love that soft and clean ambient occlusion you have - is it pre-baked in diffuse maps or coming from lighting/tweaked sceenspace AO?
GoK. One thing - make the hanging papers from actual geo instead of 1 huge alpha plane? Wouldn't cost too much polygons I think, and it could save quite a bit of texture space.
