Yes it does exactly that. It works because it's simple. It's three layer groups detail, texture, and colour. I add new layers into these from hipoly bakes and other sources as required. That's a great idea Sectaurs! I never thought of naming the layer the blending mode/percent that I want. Seems like a great way to remember what you were thinking a year later. Does most everyone use massive amounts of layers or very minimal amounts? For photo-sourced textures I tend to use gobs of layers and folders. But… -

I use a lot of masks and tend to put passes into layer groups. Have seen texture PSDs with tons of selection masks as named channels, which is kind of nice, and is something I've been meaning to pick up. KP, the alphabetization is only really for the beginning, obviously the order is as material dominance demands, but at the onset of a project it makes working the basics fast.
