I have only developed it on Max 2011 but a friend who still does coding all the way back to Max 5 is going to do some tweaking so it will work in older versions. So if you have a problem share what version of Max you are using.
You should be able to use any directory for the TGAs applied to the materials inside Max... so I will have to look at the code and see if something is amiss.
