Subtracted out, so you have a ceiling. Directional lights work like the sun. They're position in the world does not matter, only the direction. It's like the sun trying to light the inside of a cave in your scene right now. What you need is a point light, but I would suggest starting a new scene, ADD a brush and place your…
Hey Cholden thanks for getting back to me so quick. So basically I set up a brand new scene with all default settings. Subtracted out level space, added a single UDK mesh, and added the directional light. I then built the lighting and it goes straight to black. Here's pics.
