The way I've atlases in the past is if I have tiling sections then I work on each section as an individual texture set (color, bump, spec), then use a script to put them into the atlas, like this. That way I can edit and tile them individually (Crazy Bumping, modeling, etc.). Smart Objects in Photoshop go a long way…
@iniside I understand what your saying, but the whole point of this tutorial will be teaching someone how to use a single texture map.
