Glad it was useful! Happy to give any more tips or answer questions but will be really really slow replying for the next few weeks sorry, probably be that slow checking out the slack group too.
I think the command bpy.ops.mesh.delete(type='EDGE_FACE') works (I suppose that's what you want, sinc eyou can't keep faces and vertices without faces). About it being slow: sadly Blender 2.8 edit mode is pretty slow compared to 2.79, but I guess that's something they have as a priority to fix.
This is all very slow. As a concept artist, I prefer the direct modeling approach, as in Maya, Blender and Xsi. If I'm not sure about something, I just copy the shape.
That's a shame. Well, I've been using the sliding vert technique and it feels too slow. I really hope Blender devs are reading this because it would be super helpful to have!
As someone with slow computer I can hardly express how happy and excited I am about performance increase. Edit: Also countdown when exporting for non-SSD people. :)
Has anyone noticed serious slow downs when using the file browser in the most recent version?. It doesn't matter what I do, Exporting, saving, loading ad-dons. It seems the file browser is really slow and can take anywhere from 20 seconds to 5 minutes to open up and Blender hangs for the entire time. It doesn't always…
yes should work in 2.79 - the reason why you might think it's slow is that its not updated every frame, it just clocks at 16hz or so. other than that i doesnt do anything demanding at all.
For those who didn't see the retopology add-on currently in dev : [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4rX0tLpTkzU[/ame] Seems a bit slow right now but i'm sure they have plans to optimize the tool.
I don't think that sycles is "that" slow, the only problem is that you have not enough approximation algorithms. try to compare cycles and Vray on 100% bruteforce, you will notice not so much difference. ;) and YES use the gpu :D
