Pablo Vazquez is currently working on some new defaults for Blender, so if any of you guys want to make some suggestions it would be great. You can make suggestions by tweeting with the hashtag #b3defaults and see the current proposals HERE It would be really nice to get some game dev opinions in there because I'm getting…
What would yo select verts and faces with? ;) I dont think there is much chance of changing a bunch of stuff like that. The proposals are more to fix simple issues in the defaults that people wont mind changing. Changing the way in which Blender does all its main functions would cause quite a bit of hostility and backlash…
Totally forgot about this post: the crash issue persisted and drove me crazy in the last few months with some more demanding scenes. I wore out the CTRL and S keys to preserve at least my work. Finally ended up getting a new GPU (and a new, beefier power supply with it) to resolve it once and for all. Well, guess what -…
I haven't tested the build yet, but it sounds like a pretty good start. However if I could make a request for a filebrowser feature it would be to make an actual default preset operator (just named default or whatever) that you could overwrite the settings of. If you were to open a new instance of Blender it would just…
Yea, I agree. Something like Box Selection would be better LMB imho :) If you have a twitter account, make sure you tweet your suggestion with the #b3defaults hash tag, so people can see it :)
Heya Danny. I was aware of most of what you said. I did not know this. I might need to give up on modelling with those sexy matcaps then, sadly, if I want to display textures that is. The other thing is about Workbench. There was something tricky about the way Blender treated the Workbench render engine and your default…
Hi there again, To add to the above, you might actually want to consider avoiding this so-called "industry compatible" set of keybinds and instead start with the defaults, only modifying them to support your preferred (max-like or maya-like) navigation scheme first, and then later injecting your own preferred custom…
I think terms like "Workbench" and "Previz" are really causing unnecessary confusion, similarly to some of the other unneeded UI/UX fluff that 2.8 is adding. And while certainly useful, the plethora of possible display mode combinations is just making things very cumbersome to navigate ... Oh well. As far as I am concerned…
@FourtyNights : user preferences still mostly carry over fine to 2.8 (or at least they did in my case : tried various 2.8 builds over this past year and played around with moving over my prefs between versions and it worked. So when I ran the new 2.8 beta I had a 2.8 preferences folder already ready) - therefore the "old…
Just wondering but does anyone actually like the default setup for navigation/selection? Tried going back to the default because the newest builds don't work with my 2.66 key setup anymore and it's a pain to remake, but the default for selection at least just seems like there was no thought put into it at all.
