hey pior, under the n panel there is a collections tab which lists all your collections and shows you to which collections your selected object belongs (bottom left corner in screenshot) you can also view and hide collections with 1 2 3 4... and shift + 1 2 3 4... where each number stands for the position of your collection
@Chev You have to put the armature and mesh in a collection in the library. The armature has to also be the parent of the mesh. When linking, link the collection, then run the library override operator on the linked collection.
Oh I worked it out and by 'I' I mean @Frankie worked it out. You need to click the Monitor icon to hide collections in the way I wanted. The monitor icon 'Disables Collection in viewport' as opposed to the eye that 'disables the collection(or object) in viewport'. It's pretty easy when you realise :D ..Next issue, when you…
Here's the error I'm getting now, mate. It only happens with collections. I can't send you the .Blend, sorry. It's work-related. I'm testing now on simple collections of primitives, so if I repro I'll send the .blend. Also, it deletes all of the objects in the 'high_poly' collection from the scene and seems to randomly…
You can see the icon besides the collections lighting up depending on the selected object, no? That's a pretty evident signal of which collection contains selected stuff?
Thanks @peris yes, I've tested with all collection objects selected. Same error. I'll keep trying. It's definitely a collections related error as baking single objects works perfectly.
So, it's been more than a year since 2.8 and I personally still find the new Collections to be very annoying and a waste of time. It's a constant juggle between using the interface of the M hotkey (to move objects in and out of collections), having to actually go dig inside the outliner and constantly having to…
I miss layers in 2.8. How do you separate the highpoly from the lowpoly and quickly flick back and forth between them or view them overlapped? Also when I tried using collections and I unhide objects in my 'low' collection it also unhides my 'high' collection and their objects, which is obviously not what I want! :#
