I know nothing about coding, but I'd suggest you to go to #blender and #blendercode IRC and also on Blender's Artist "Beginning Blender Code" session. Good luck on this :D
It's funny all the hate the community gets, personally I've got virtually instant support about everything on IRC, it's been the most help I've ever got learning 3d software.
What's the best place/way to make suggestions for Blender overall? I see they have IRC channels, several large forums, and Twitter. Is there maybe something like the Max uservoice where people can vote ideas to be implemented?
I know about the irc channels, but is there a Skype group for Blender users too? Also, any word on the drag-drop custom toolshelf feature? Last I asked (about half a year ago) it wasn't quite done yet.
@Ninjas, sorry, I wasn't really talking about you specifically but to the general masses who critizise the Blender developers because they rejected their ideas. I sympathize with you and I still don't understand why you got banned from the IRC.
I'm sorry it makes you angry that I related the experience I had on their IRC. Thanks for the feedback! I will try to get that sorted when I get back to blendering :) [edit] I think I have it set to do this now, and re-uploaded to the same spot if anyone wants it
I was in the dev irc channel when the discussion took place. Its about as legit as it gets. Cambell set it up, and he's perhaps one of the biggest core contributors to Blenders development. In the BA forums they asked the same question you asked. The result was a guarantee that it will be supported by the BF after…
I never got any word back on that. I'll probably hop in IRC and talk with him about it at some point. I don't care much about the icons specifically, but Blender really needs some better brush defaults. The ones that have been in there for years I think were just thrown in as placeholders and just never replaced.
If anyone can... please hop on to their irc channel #blendercoders @freenode and start talking to them (kaito = Ton btw). The reason for this is they desperately (in my opinion) need more input from those who have been in the industry/studio environment and have more grounded expectation & needs... any influence or…
I'll try to relay the issue about Ctrl. Also note the bevel modifier uses the new bevel code too. It may work a bit better for doing precise bevels. To control specific edges use the Bevel weight slider in the side panel and set the modifier to weight (screenshot). If more people utilized the mailing list, irc, and the bug…
