I'm a longtime Maya user who is learning Max and I'm having a strange result when using turbosmooth on a mesh. I'm not sure if this is the normal turbosmooth result, or if there is something wrong with my mesh. Using the Maya mesh smooth would not get this result unless my topology was wrong so I'm a bit confused since…
Looks like a lot of people didn't notice that I fixed the problem, the fix was converting to edit mesh and back to edit poly to delete some history that was affecting the turbo smooth. Thanks for the suggestions.
5 sided ngons tend to be better than a quad and a tri for smoothing. This is for the high poly bake, so ngons are ok. Anyway, I figured out that it was something in the edit poly history that was affecting it. I just converted it to an edit mesh, and back to edit poly, and then the turbosmooth worked fine.
select your mesh by verts *before doing turbo smooth* look for the tool stl check and then add it. after that convert to editable what ever your editing in, and it should be fixed. if not you might have a crazy edge and have to delete it and re make it not a big deal but stl check should clear up the problem
