You've really done your research. This should turn out well. As for the wet sand. I would use something fairly noisy, with good contrast to light and darks. There is some color noise too. Amazing stuff. Much brighter than crysis, I have to say it looks a bit less realistic, but almost more appealing to a degree. I have to say, some of those textures seem to LOOK tiled.
