working my own PBR shader for Unity - got linear lighting implemented in Unity free ;) wouldn't have been possible without Farfarer's responses in the Unity forums and the multiple articles on gamma/linear lighting
Unity is not your competitor if your main framework is AS3, I don't think that Unity3D will ever succeed in the browser space except in molehill form. Unity is mainly used on the iPad and iPhone / Android these days. Maybe just wait till booth molehill and the next Unity release are out and then compare.
