Just now learning maxscript here. We need to do an extrusion amount that we grab from an excel document, but we already have that figured out. The problem is that we can't get any extrusion amount working. Here's the code I'm testing, grabbed straight out of the listener when I did it through the gui.max modify…
If your source edges/curves have the correct bend amount on every change of direction then the script will take those values, but changing those values to get a realistic pipe bend amount would cause a lot of unwanted effects,no ?
just released a new version of ShoeBox v3.2.0 with some new Bitmap Font features. It can generate an automated optical kerning for any font including non Latin based ones. It shoots rays on each bitmap character to determine its volume of the left and right side of its silhouette. By averaging each side's rays lengths into…
rewritten the tree generator to separate out the trunk from the branches... which had a surprising effect... mature to ancient grandad. just don't look too close at the mesh :/ criminal amount of overdraw
Yeah, fun to play with. For this one we went from quad to mushroom, carefully pushing/pulling the geometry to the center so it would have a decent amount to work with; somewhat worked but in hindsight probably should have used a low poly mesh ;). For the next one for sure.
malcolm, thank you =) Pymel is very handy as you work not with strings like in mel but with objects. It gives many benefits. However, if you have to process large amount of data, then you’d better learn Maya Python API for fast working of a script. As to me it’s not so handy but fast.
Wrote a script to manipulate line renderers in Unity. Moves each line segment off of the z-axis by an amount calculated using Perlin noise. It creates a smooth warping Ghostbusters style beam effect. It has controls for segments, scale, speed, etc. I plan on enhancing it in the future.
interesting. Given your experience what would you say is a reasonable amount of decals per scene? Sucks to hear it's that limited :( I'm not holding out hope of using deferred decals on our project any time soon tho, so we'll still be cutting in much of our detail.
@Kyetja Would also be interested in checking out the Maxfile. Results look great. I've actually been sculpting rocks all week in Zbrush so my brain is still in 'Rock-silhouette-appreciation and admiration- mode' :) It's actually quite interesting the amount of CG artists that seem to have a rock fetish.........
ah, gottcha. Maxscript help didn't mention that :shifty: have you tried not using the modifier name, something like: $.modifiers[1].amount = 43 I've run into problems in the past trying to use modifier names. EDIT: Also try it this way maybe: ext = Extrude() addModifier $ ext ext.amount = 43
