Why the are object_space maps not used more often for static env work? The only bump maps I have seen for env work has had tangent colors, but I thought that object space was cheaper because it doesn't compute tangents. Sorry for getting on a tangent, just wondering.
Well yeah but in the case where you REALLY want something smooth (like a polished object with a env map reflection on it) you really want accuracy ... Now I understand that in such cases one might be better off increasing the density and not even use normalmaps at all (like on car driving simulators) but still, it shouldnt…
