Autoback on crash is in temp directory of your system. Warning: If the file you were working on has a messed up node, you will need to hunt through the file in a text editor and remove the node by cutting the text. Something you can't do in 3DS Max, even with autoback. Change hotkeys is in Windows>Settings And Preferences>…
I tried looking for the recovery file from the crash but I dont think it was able to save one :< Good to know about that node removal though. Cheers :) For the hotkeys, do you know what the extrude faces is called in the hotkey editor? Because I cant seem to find it anywhere. It's supposed to be under Edit Mesh, but its…
1. uhh make a unrwap uvw with no polys or anything selected, just the object (so your not in any sub-object modes) 2. go into face mode in the unwrap uvw, press ctrl + a to sleect every face 3. hit edit 4. mapping -> flatten mapping or maybe mapping ->unfold (works on simple objects like boxes or mapping -> normal mapping…
Select all in Boarder mode? It only works for me in Editable poly mode. In Edit Poly the modifier, it selects all the edges not just the boarders. Or is there a different way to select all open edges? In 2010 there is a Select Non-Quads option inside Graphite/polyboost selection tools. Illusion catalyst does this one step…
Yea it was in my sig for a while =P Anux is right, you can only extrude or shift drag an open edge. You can open the edge by clicking the little box next to the chamfer button (chamfer menu) setting the amount to 0 and clicking open. It's a bit like hardening edges in Maya only it makes a hole in the mesh. Which is what…
No, Insert Edge Loop is a dynamic insert, you can click and drag on any edge to slice a new loop through the related edge ring (if any). Clicking and dragging slides along the edge (in the same way the Split Polygon tool does), using the snaps you've got set in your preferences (default is a 50% snap, but you can set…
You can Shift drag edges if they are OPEN which will give you the same effect. But note that max doesn't weld open verts to closed verts. You can just snap the verts together but they wont be welded.
Firecracker197: Yep, sounds like a very easy thing to script for Max. Probably just a few lines of code. I might look into that tonight if I get bored of L4D2 :) Hell, there's probably already one - have you checked scriptspot?
I used extrude. Wow inset does a nice job as I expected, but if I wanna scale it, how do i do that since the pivot is still not in the center of the face. edit: Okay got it, is it inset and outline? However it only works in polygon mode, what if I had edge loop selected, do I have to cap it first?
