Ugh, it's been a crazy week, but I finally got back to updating this. Checked off the list: - Get rid of crappy and badly scaled brick texture - Add on "gate booth" to the side - Fix small texture mapping errors - Create new "old brick" texture - Create brick wall prop (damaged and normal) to go with guard outpost - Create…
Thanks Daniel! Some of the brick damage does indeed look like concrete from a distance, but it's actually mortar and old bricks showing through. I posted a screenshot closer to it below, does it look any better up close? Yesterday I spent a while adding more damage and detailing to the building. I added three signs taken…
looks great, few things i noticed that after first glance thought about were the damage in the brick that was similar to the damage in the concrete i think the brick wouldnt damage the same way. you have it the right way in other spots but the one spot thats modeled looks like its supposed to be concrete. and the pillars…
It's not under it (that's a decal versus the other damage areas which actually have depth). It's where a section of the wall was patched using mis-matched brick: http://www.cgtextures.com/texview.php?id=25723&PHPSESSID=eb0281697e9511fcb2cf9ae0d5e6f987
Thanks for the tips man! I'm still trying to figure out the negative lights, but today I finally went through the Crytek page on decals and I realized that you can actually project a decal onto your geometry. Doh! This inspired me to dive in today and redo a lot of this thing: * Removed old concrete texture and added a new…
I'm considering making a texture sheet with some decals that I can re-use for a lot of the buildings that I'm going to be creating for my Lab X2 map, but the jury is still out on that one. I may end of unwrapping some of the smaller structures if it doesn't hurt the pixel density too much, because I really would love to…
How is the structure constructed? Is it a set of modular pieces put together in the engine, or did you bring it in as one solid mesh? I feel like the scale and construction of those outside board planks are way off. The scale of the bricks also seem too small to me. I'm not sure how this would work with regards to the side…
It's actually one solid mesh. Which planks are you referring to? Looking at the bricks, I think you're right, they're a little too big (which is ironic, as I thought they were actually too small for a while). The gate and the post that is supporting the gate are actually separate objects. I probably shouldn't have stuck…
Hi 3DLee, Its a cool start and is a nice environment to put in your portfolio but i think there are still definately areas you can improve on. - You have a lot of edge transitions where two objects meet which stand out. For example where the house hits the ground the concrete at the bottom would be darker and maybe…
