Yea the whole defense of marriage thing is completely stupid. The state I live in just passed a law that enabled "civil unions" to be recognized in very specific cases. It was a very tiny step forward, and even that is being fought. It's just a bunch of uppity religious folks who are probably closet dwellers themselves.… -

No kidding. For a place so verbose about "freedom and equality" we seem to fail rather epically every chance we get to actually promote those concepts. Now if some nation will just make the licencing gender neutral and have some provision for more than two names per document, or more than one document per individual…
