There is a 3rd party importer and exporter available, but the md5 reqirement was basically just an idea to have a final goal. But please contribute in the thread over at FGD if you are interested.
So, to clarify you want a basic humanoid biped that could be used in most games, and it has to be in .md5anim? Are you sure that Blender can use .md5anim? I'm not seeing it on either the import or export lists.
