Well hes played around with it enough to where he feels comfortable to learn the scripting. I've researched a few engines and there's a poop load of docs so i think that aspect is covered. garage games has come really far over the last couple years.

hmm... I used torque back in college. Unless your friend has extensive knowledge with it, it can be quite the headache. Back at that time, (2 years ago) there was very little documentation and many limitations out of the box depending on what your doing. Honestly, I have no clue if these issues have been resolved yet.
