Kevin as always your work is amazing and such great inspiration. Those engines are pretty crazy looking. Were they based off real engines or did you just start making up things that seemed like a more sci fi version of an engine?
Working on a grid is more important in some engines, like UE3 than it is in others but ultimately its good practice to make sure you stick to it whatever your doing. It just makes constructing modular peices and environments far far easier if everything snaps neatly into place.
MGS4 wasn't a success. Well I'm just going to say that Gears 2 was a good length. And MGS4 wasn't that good. Also... these are high poly models... no game engine is going to take them. Imagine if you looked at those assets in the game... i know it is a stretch ;)... but a lot of that high poly data is there.
Underside of the pickup below, I ended up borrowing one of Bill Green's toy cars as partial reference, I really know nothing about cars. I guess I see these things differently because I know Pete Hayes is in the building, banging out proper vehicles hahaha This was the first one I did, my first car model too, took a shot…
thanks for that Kev, a lot of information provided by your good honest self there :poly121: I have a question if anyone can answer, does working on the grid apply to all modelling for the different engines. Sorry if this is a naive question , I come from a archvis background and desperately need to know more about the…
OH Shnap!!!! All the gears stuff is amazing! I like the locust stuff better but that's just personal preference. I'm a big fan of vehicles and the work you did was great. You don't often see someone take the time to actually model out some engine stuff. Super badass. Your work is constant inspiration. I appreciate it. Keep…
I love all the details that you guys sculpt/model there at Epic...it honestly makes me excited (sorry...I cant contain my inner geek.) Out of curiosity, and I'm sure this has been asked somewhere in this thread, but how much time do you get to model something like the truck a couple of pages back? It feels like the engine…
I really wish more game artists were more like you!! It's kindof sad to see so many people not experimenting at all, just waiting for stuff to be shown to them from A to Z. I think it's mostly because many artists don't get their hands dirty enough with engine exports and tweaks, and just stop at the fancy render stage.…
i am such a fan of Gears, got both games and played it a lot! Just a pity its so frikken short. They should look at what made metal gear solid 4 such a great success. (hunch hunch) Sad thing is tho, you have such great models, and its kind of a pity even with all the hard work in those amazing models, the game engine kills…
