I disabled any unused motherboard hardware, realtek audio and lan and that seems to have given a little bit more stability. Ahh the 8800 card problem. It turns out it actually is something wrong with the card and it is very widespread and known problem with that series of cards, vista, the drivers and a few other things. removed every component(soundcard, network card, wacom, xbox controller) except the core items and the it still crashes when I try to play batman arkham asylum. I have a gainward 8800GT I bought it about a year ago been using it in my old xp machine for the past year just fine. If you click on the "download drivers" on the gainward page it just takes you to the nvidia drivers site but there is this "expertool" thing I havent tried that yet.… -

vista 64 sp1 and I did that except instead of using driver cleaner I just manually checked that all nvidia dlls were gone in safe mode before installing the new drivers. Might give driver sweeper a chance though hmm anyway at the moment it seems like far cry 2 is far more prone to this error than anything else on my pc… -

1. Get more than 4Gb and use a x64 OS. If you use DDR2 I suggest you a dual channel kit with Micron D9GKX chips. 2. Use Vista x64.
