Blender does come with enough Python libraries to run itself. You only need a full install to run some aftermarket scripts. And who said anything about a modern computer? Blender will install and run on just about any hardware.
Blender itself runs fine without additional Python scripts. I recall the included scripts running without a full install, but your correct that it has been a long time since I checked. From a practical standpoint, the size of Blender could balloon quite a bit and still be very manageable. A 1 gig USB drive is going to set…
False. I needed to install it to get half the program to run. You might forget that if you've had it installed for awhile, and it's been a non issue. A lot of commands in the program rely on it, including just about everything in the export menu, and some UV commands. It won't run on my 1994 IBM Aptiva, and even then CD…
kraftwerk, and its only the beginning really, it's the way they made the ui more flexible now, notice that the tooltip points the the script segment that is run when you click it, and I saw a console that feedsback the pythoncommand for everything you do, so simple macro scripts should be simple now I guess.

As I understand it, the plan was to use native file browsers where appropriate. Here is a picture of the 2.5 image browser running on Linux (not sure what the Windows one…
i'm experiencing a laggy interface on my craptop too. but since this is experimental and many features are not ported anyway, i'm still sticking with 2.49.. i will say that a netbook isn't an ideal machine to run any 3d program.. as for the 'ribbon' interface, i remember reading news articles at the time office 2007 was…
Definitely agree with you there. With any luck this will be coded into C/C++ and incorporated into trunk soon. The game engine is starting to come together nicely. Third round of scene graph optimization was finished recently. Supposedly its now running between two and ten times faster than 2.48a. I understand that next up…
Hmmm...a lot has changed, not really feeling it at the moment. Im sure once there are some video tutorials about how to navigate the new blender it will get better, and that the changes are for the best in the long run, but after having used the program for so long to feeling like its a whole new tool I now have to learn,…
