As I understand it Python 2.5 is going to be cut and replaced by Python 3.0 The idea being that the new core will break backward compatibility with most python plugins anyway, might as well update while they are at it. As far as Python being included...Im not sure what the plan is with that. Maybe they will offer it with…
jrs, what's the deal with python in 2.5? I heard something along the lines of them shipping python with Blender, so you don't have to install it yourself. Is that the case? I just heard rumblings from the audio they posted, but it wasn't too clear. When it comes to G, I usually prefer to use the 3D widget anyways.
That was me too until 2.46. :poly127: :poly136: If even the GUI panels are going to be written in Python scripts, it's not going to be very good having it as an optional download. I mean, those guys don't want to walk uphill both ways for another 8 hours to get the python install too! Who has a modern PC with an openGL…
Well as he already said, you can wait for someone to do it or take some initiative yourself. The key/mouse customization has begun and it's already better than what max, maya or xsi have even in its alpha state. You could get bindable keys for that stuff in blender if you do a little python scripting yourself if you REALLY…
Hmmmmm...custom UI panels through simple python scripting. It's not exactly a "fix" for Blender's traditional interface. (since it doesn't change the fundamental structure of how the program is organized" But it does significantly open Blender up for extensive customized UI modifacation. The real benefit here is that it…
open up a window with the python console, it has realtime feedback of everything you do in blender now! some copypaste and anything you did becomes a script for re-use ;)
It should work but I believe that you have to have 32 bit Python installed as well. Also keep in mind that 32 bit RAM limits will probably also be in place.
I don't care about using python to change the UI as it is/will be. I quite like blender's UI as it is and I'm sure it will only get better with 2.5. I'm more interested in the custom rigging/control panels I'll be able to build that will pretty much duplicate all the rigging tools I've built for myself in XSI. I very much…
