Im all for simplicity but pior this example isnt that good imo. 90% of the space is unused (using 1680x1050), its annoying and the amount of scrolling can be reduced a lot. It would look better if he didnt use any <br> tags and just spammed a block of images plus it will save 1 sec of time pasting the <br> tag, even more…
