32 sides is more than enough to get a smooth and bakeable mesh, but i did one with 40 and kept the edges smooth "for bake" 32 sides here using double smoothing technique.
What? You don't get the same result using smoothing groups. You can do a turbo smooth by smoothing groups and then a normal turbo smooth, but if you do that you are adding extra edges in areas you might now want. If you mean something else, show an actual example.
@SV_ When applying smoothing groups in Blender, I highly recommend Textools - So under the Mesh UV Tools tab click last in the sub menu stack - Smooth by UV Islands! However, that said most of those gradients are caused by tiny triangles and miss-placed sharp edges, where vertex normals should've been made smooth. I'd…
Any tips on how I can get rid of this crease? I'm using the latest version of Maya! The above screenshot is a smooth preview, and the bottom ones show my current topology (left is w/ smooth preview, right is w/o)
Hopefully the last post about my freakin gun :D But does anybody have any idea how to add text to the high poly? The text will be on flat surfaces but it is inwards so how to make that look good when it is smoothed? The smoothing I use is first one with Smoothing Groups at 2 iterations and then one normal turbo smooth over…
