I'm designing on-ear headphones with the ports in the cylindrical base shape. I've tried to reduce the loop count, it was causing shading issues but unfortunately it continues to have shading problems. Does anyone have suggestions for handling this differently?
I've been struggling past couple days on achieving this velvet fold look, experimenting on Zbrush with dynamic simulation+cloth brushes. The closest I got was manually sculpting folds with the fold brush then smoothing the result but it leaves a lot to be desired. I heard Marvelous Designer would be great at simulating…
I would take a tall rectangle into ZBrush and start painting on the design, and pick up the document and offset it (~/` key I think) (make sure the top and bottom of the rectangle match the top and bottom of the document), then drop it back down and fix the seam. Then take that into your Maya and bend it 360 to a cylinder…
Thank you both for the replies - continuing to crack on with fixing it. @SonicBlue, thanks - I'll keep tweaking the vertices abiding to your feedback. :) @wirrexx, I'm not strictly abiding by either design; more just creating something that nicely represents the design itself. At the moment, I'm cutting in the extrusions…
i would either scuplt that or uses curves/Splines to trace the design and use them as guides. I would not use box modeling for such intricate designs. you could use that for your block in.
Ohh.. then this is your own design and you are free to make that problematic edgy corner into a curved corner connection.. well if someone would knew this in the first place..
Dude.. Besided the point that you asked, let me just say this to you. That concept is pretty bland. One of the things i like to see on a model, is the design of it. Right now.. Even if you did a perfect hipoly and then lowpoly +textures... it would still be bland even if you did it to a perfect execution simply because the…
I appreciate your opinion. To be honest, I like the concept, save for a few design choices. I've almost finished the high poly now, so I think I'll just go ahead and finish it, as I never finish things. After that I'll try something with a better design.
Thanks for tihe thoughts. I find it interesting that you don't model your own designs. For a long time I had no motivation to model anything that wasn't my own design. Luckily, I'm getting over that now. I'll probably start a thread over in the previews section as I get a bit further with the current gun. Thanks again.
Hey i am trying to model this ornamental design, im struggling with the circular section. Heres what ive got so far, i made the left and right side of the mesh seperatly after a failed attempt to make them in one mesh.
