look under poly tools, or if your in windows 7, pick any object from the complete list and quickly type the first few letters and windows automatically sellects it.
???? bear with the 'paint' paint over, haven't installed anything on windows 7 yet. I don't have that much experience with sub-d modelling so this is only a guess :)
This is a thread for hard surface modeling, not any old tech issue, and you didn't list the software you're using. But the answer is to push the 7 key (the one above the keys, not the numpad)
I made this black object in Blender. While the shape and shading is good, it looks very highpoly for something that will be duplicated 7 times. Is there a better way to do the topology to reduce the polycount while still retaining the shape?
I found this image of concept thumbnails that I thought would be great practice for hi-poly models. I've picked #7 to do, and I can't quite figure out how to get the caps on the side of the sphere. As well, the indented sphere in the center of the larger green sphere.
its not perfect. but. 1. Main shape, sphere wit 18 sides. 2. turbo smoothed once 3. Added where the cuts would be (mostly deleting faces) and always working on 1/4 or 1/7 of the mesh 4. Rotated the copies and welded vertices. 5 minutes of work.
Thank you. I think yousendit will host for you for 7 days if you want to upload the other two there. That first video is pretty basic. Those last two are probably the more complex shapes I'm seeking after. Can you upload #3 first if you use yousendit? :poly136:
