I second what map says. Definitely learn scripting. Doesn't matter what app you use. Learn Mel, Maxscript, Lua, etc. It can be really beneficial when having to do repetitive tasks to script something that does it for you. I'm still learning Maxscript myself. -

Per made a post some time back about this. He said he used an app that kept track of all the keys he was pressing while working, to see which ones he used the most.
