a simple google search will bring up lots of basic tutorials on UV, for example http://www.google.com/search?q=3ds+max+uv+tutorial&rls=com.microsoft:en-us&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&startIndex=&startPage=1 also, coincidently, Eat3d's Old Pillar video also shows UV'ing of a model in 3ds max.. maybe a little confusing for totally… -

Yes it covers texturing and a nice way to make seamless textures. It goes over using pictures to make your textures but the same can be used for other things. -
