First off would be the 50mm 1.8, which you can get new for about $95 USD. I got mine from B&H not sure if you have an equivalent store like that. pick up the 50mm 1.8($120 new), and look into the 75-300mm, you can find them for $100-175 on ebay. I've got a 75-300mm III USM sitting here, but I actually prefer the super cheap ass 80-200mm, because 300mm on a crop is ~ 480mm, and that is just excessive. You might consider the Nikon DX 35mm 1.8 if you're looking for a "normal" lens on a crop body like i was, its 52.5mm equiv on a nikon crop body, as fast as your 50 and only $200-250. Looks like they dont make a 28mm 1.8 like Canon does, which is a shame, only the $2500 28mm 1.4, which is just nuts.… -

Testing out my new Sigma EX DG 24mm 1.8 wooooo! Hey Ben you should be pleased, its a ~35mm <2.0 lens! I found myself not really using the Sony 35/1.8 but using the Quantaray 24/2.8 quite a lot, so I'm selling both to pay for this guy. -

I was using a Nikkor AF-S 55-200mm lens, goes for about $200, but I got it on Ebay for $100 brand new in box. It's a pretty good lens. I also have a 55-300mm w/macro Sigma lens that my friend sold me for $100, but that's manual focus only. So I use that for shots where things aren't moving around. ^_^ -

Yeah that is at 1.8, the DOF is pretty wide on this lens cause its 24mm, but up close you can get some really nice creamy bokeh shots. It also focuses to 1:2.7 macro, so you can focus just a few inches from the front of the glass. Its pretty sharp at 1.8 too but really sharp at 2.8. I think its got 9 blades, rounded… -

If you're shooting at 1.8@3200 ISO and still have trouble getting a sharp shot, you really just do not have enough light. As disanski says, 1/60th ideally is as low as you want to go shutter speed wise, tho i'm pretty comfortable taking shots at 1/30th if its a relative still subject or even as low as 1/15th if i've got…
