Hey you were right Jesse thanks I went back and fixed it. And thanks Jdinges for the feedback. I shy away too much from experimenting and tend to stay true to what I know. Nate id go with more of something that looks like that ref of yours. Look at how the brick is used, its all hard edges with vertical and horizontal elements. Note that it doesn't do any of the things you have your doing, because that not how brick works. Think more about how the bricks form a shape not a shape with brick… -

i genrally do a bluish color for wood spec, polished wood espically DOES have white highlights, red highlights on wood will look bad. I would add some more satuation to the diffuse, and tweak gamma so its abit darker. Also add in some dark wood grain, and get rid of the whitish dusty type areas in the diffuse, that sort of… -

nice to see all this progress so much since i last saw it. diffuse is really nice, i have a couple of small crits though. the worn patches on the sofa dont look right, they look like a layer of plain colour over the top of the wood in PS i think it would be nicer to use that layer to desaturate the wood colour in this… -

yeah man you gotta have the indents or this cannon is going to kill everyone behind it as well as in front of it. Also you should start to get in the habit of not using the nvidia filter so much. This thing could really look a lot better if you had modeled the high res version. The wheels wouldn't look so blocky, the edges… -

its nice and clean, but I would add a bit more detail to the diffuse. Its a tad bland. also, why do you have two wheel spots? seems like their so alike, you could just reuse the space. -

Try messing with the levels of your diffuse, right now the wood looks faded with too much white in it. Try darkening the darks a bit to see if that helps. Or add a rich brown/red color layer over it on overlay to deepen the color. It's all about experimenting Unless you're going for the current look that is.
