Haven't tried Imageready. How's that for animations? I have access to Premier, and I've done a lot of video editing with it, but not much of any cartoon style animation. I reckon we'd need a good combination of tools, mixing in the audio and what not.
I've used monkeyjam for stop motion and pencil animations. It's pretty nice. Straight to the point, and free. Wasn't synfig created by a member of the boards here? I believe I remember a thread about it a while back.
i dowloaded the demo of toonboom today at work, so far i'm liking it, its vector based, (well not completley) but it seems much easier to use than i rember flash being from using it years ago,, after playng around with it i made a simple animation of a potato man walking, and i feel like it could be a prog that i could get…

Check out Mirage, it's based on Aura which I have used (and is easy to use) made by Newtek, the guys who made lightwave. Mirage looks way cooler than Aura does, though. http://www.bauhaussoftware.com/2D_Animation.php
