   Deffinatly a combo of the help files, Poop's tutorials, other tuts around the net, and just practicing and playing in Max is the best way to learn.

   you (used to) get a book and a help file with 3dsmax, theres loads of tutorials in there covering the features of max, check them out... just click help!
