If you are or any one is getting any "brand name" versions. I usually watch repair techs & they have .02's to add to the internal workings of which cards(companies) are good in comparison to the others, 1 & 2 some helpful information for the longevity of your products & when to check/change "pads/paste", are also mentioned… -

You might be buying a literal brick looking at some of those prices you mentioned. At least from what I've been seeing, they look too good to be true, even for refurbished models (4090 for $900?). So unless you know the seller or why they are so cheap, you are right to be cautious, not just in case of the 5000 ones. Edit:… -

well for my spare time stuff , optimisation is not 'too' much of a a concern. I think my korean scene has about 300 materials. But my current setup still handles it quite well after I did a bunch of tweaks on the settings. I do use renderman sometimes which is much slowers then cycles, so it will be nice to see how the new… -

I don’t think it comes in 24gb, just 16gb. Which should be plenty for 3d art and modeling. It’s sometimes nice to have some kind of constraint rather than like unlimited resources so that you know that what you’re building is also optimized as well. -

Yup, so your Ram and CPU won’t be a bottleneck for the 4080 gpu. I know the 5000 series are out but I’m very happy with my 4080 super and don’t plan on upgrading for a really long time. -

Thnaks for the advice, looks like the 4080 it is . I was a bit concerned about the later RTX cards for the reason you mentioned ie overheating. can't afford to buy a fancy brick :) Not sure what GB the 4080 is, would be good to get 24 , though more likely 16 -

P.S. I have a 4080 Super and I absolutely love it. It’s great for 3D art in Maya and Blender. It runs Unreal Engine and many games very well. Now, I don’t know what CPU or how much ram you have but it’s a nice GPU. -

There’s not much of a difference in both. In technical terms yes, but I highly recommend the 4080 or 4080 Super over the 4090 simply because of one big reason. The 4090 has a realizability issue with the power connector which can get overheated and melt. It’s also not worth extra money for more performance. For a computer…
