I think it's quite simple.. It costs a fortune to use robots for anything novel and the chance of producing anything useful in practice is pretty low. What they've done here is cut their R&D budget because they didn't see any returns -

Seems interesting although when I read this, I think there are some big problems for Animators and Mocap guys. Even for the good ones out there, they can only do so much work being 1 person no matter how skilled they are.
