That silhouette is much improved! The general forms of the blade painting are coming along as well. The emblem towards the base of the blade feels a little polygonal at the moment but I'm sure you'll refine that shape as you come to it. Two things I would suggest early on are to define a lighting/shadow color and to…
hello! good luck with the hand painting project! I also started by making tons of weapons, and I must say it's a great way to learn how to make this kind of stuff, so good luck with your project! regarding your model so far: try and keep in mind which part of the model will be most visible, and also how big an individual…
I've done a few refinements (central part is a lot more circular now) and spent some time playing around with colours. Just working on the bottom piece and then I will do another pass over the blade as it doesn't really look very metallic at the moment.
That video is amazing :) You make it look so easy lol I think I'll need to watch that a few times. The first 20 minutes or so are probably more important to me at the moment as I am getting stuck with thinking about where the light is coming from and blocking things out still. It will probably look like I've barely done…
@Zanmato That's great :) I'm glad that the course helped. It's definitely one of the best tutorials out there for learning hand painting. Working on the additional concepts is also very helpful to practice what you've learned from the tutorial so I would also recommend doing that. Make sure you post your art to get…
Looking really cool! I definitely think you're picking up on a lot of things pretty quickly, especially for someone just starting out with handpainting. I know you're going on to a new sword, and I think that's probably the right call, you can keep iterating on your process from start to finish and what not. That said I…
Tonight I made a few changes, adding some extra polygons to the blade and removing some from the hand guard. I adjusted the shape of the guard and also increased the size of the blade a bit as I noticed I had made it slightly too small in comparison to the rest of the model. I began working on UVing this and ran into a few…
@Xelan101 Wow, thanks so much for the amazing feedback. :) I really appreciate it. The gold areas were something I was really struggling with, so thank you for mentioning FirstKeeper and her work, I will definitely need to go and study that before I start painting the next sword. I knew there were things missing from my…
