For artists who use vertex painting and have tried Blender and ZBrush. I will like to know your opinion on the two. I am currently using Blender but I am finding painting medium to small details problematic in Blender. I have seen polypaint zbrush videos on youtube. With ZBrush, you can sculpt lots of tiny details and…
Yeah, Blender's vertex paint tool is laggy when used on very high poly models, which is kinda useless for "polypainting" inside Blender. ZBrush is naturally a technical wonder to handle that with an ease.
Yep and I am thinking ZBrush handles this well because of the 2.5d architecture? Blender has a pbvh branch but it needs a lot of tweaking and it's not quite there yet. From the videos of polypainting in ZBrush, it's quite a breeze.
Avoid going to edit mode, Use only the vertex paint and object mode, since the display of the high res wireframe will cause the viewport to lag or hang. I really wish Blender viewport could handle high res geometry without problems, leaving the edit mode after subdividing the mesh as much as required is also a drag as well.
