Maybe it 's one of reasons why pro CG soft is still so monstrously inconvenient in general. There are few examples of nice tools and features here and there scattered among different soft . Mostly they are addons and plugins somebody did for free or cheep. So I don't believe in developers. I do believe in open source ,…
3d coat has lots of hidden treasures. Many things way more convenient than in SPainter. Like brushes for example allowing to paint with multi brush dab selection, basically scattering random details on surface. Still there are lots of weird omissions that are so obvious. For example no way to load UDIM textures…

I think what it's trying to say is values wont keep adding ontop of itself, that they will just stop once they hit the color you are using? It's a very poor example or explaination.
That video was really mindblowing :D Any idea if there is some sort of preset manager ? when you have a scene with multiple (sci-fi for example) assets it's always nice to texture one asset, save the texturing profile as a preset that can be populated within seconds with every other asset you will be texturing.
Thanks Axi5 . It works for me now. They definitely have a special talent of making thing as confusing and puzzling as possible. Comparing to Blender shader nodes for example with Input and output groups . I have never had to read any tutorial for most parts of Blender. It's kind of self explaining after a few clicks here…
Yeah. I understand. It's like Mixer working only with square textures ( last time I tried). I hardly ever do square shaped texture. It's usually 1x2 or even 1x4. So Mixer is useless for me and I am amazed other people may prefer square textures . They are hard to tile as a road texture for example , hard to pack anything…
I I'v been writing it for decades in multiple soft support forums. Tired of it already. In 3d coat one few years ago for example about how useless layer's Max (depth) blending mode is without matching automatic mask for color and roughness . I could do such dynamic mask even in Photoshop but not in 3d coat . While it…
I was also under the impression that Painter uses a vector like painting approach (which allows for scalability) which masks out where the substance data will be seen. I believe it was during one of the twitch broadcasts that the vector comment was made. Regardless, I was kind of hoping Painter would feel more like 3DC in…
Sure, but you're probably not as efficient in photoshop as you are in 3DCoat/other 3D painting software to actually paint in 3D (it's just one example) My point is that all these softwares have their strenghts, and a user base who is accustomed to it. So surprising your users with a tool they will probably not…
