Hi everyone, I'm a 2d artist, I'm having trouble finding a job, I'd like to ask for critique from more experienced artists. What do I need to change and improve to find a job as a 2d artist. My portfolio is below: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1O5AL1BvyO48mYdflQpPPeg1kia6SmU98/view?usp=sharing
Some more character work for the Old West project I was doing. On and off between free time. I couldn't find much space to re-apply the fundamentals I learned from studying Loos this time around and his essays but I did it where I could, here and there and played with story elements and visual development a bit instead.…
Heya! You have quite a broad range of work here! Looking at it all I would only say that you might find massive benefit in doing gesture drawings of the human figure, really learning all the anatomy off by heart (skeletal, muscular and surface level). I couldn't possibly critique on everything, but I hope that is useful!
And something I've been working on, I know this is inconsistent, but I like realism and also like abstraction, I can't stop liking one to do other more. So this is something more geared towards Mirrors Edge (an humble attempt to) and their DICE realistic concepts. Maybe later I can try to find one style and keep it, but…
Definitely going in the right direction. I dont know about other people, but personaly Im not interested at all in those kind of material breakdowns, they mostly make things look fancy without really adding any useful information. dont take my word for it though, Im just one person, others might find it useful. Personaly,…
Good progress in here so far! Your line work is pretty good! The number one thing I can suggest working on in a lot of your coloured art work is light and shadow colour. Your shadows tend towards black too much in my opinion, often shadows are actually filled with a bit of ambient light so they end up blue or brown or red…
Yesterday I stumbled upon a few books around the house, one of them had some really dark illustrations by Ian Livingstone and Steve Jackson, I was influenced by it and decided to re-imagine Call of Cthulhu by H.P. Lovecraft's main character's researcher room, the one that belonged to professor Angell and was left to his…
There's not much light in this, it's a night scene. Hmm, I was more worried with the placement of the elements, to help the eye flow around.. by the rough blockout, I mean, I was looking at the works of these guys, and how they start with a super rough block out and paint all the rest:…
you should really try to get out of your comfort zone. all your work looks exactly the same, which isn't necessary a bad thing, its good that you have your own style, but its hindering your learning I think. you need to look less at this (atleast for now =P). and look more at this, this, and this I tried to find images…
@lotet I'm for the same opinion. Thanks for that. I find that using photos is often very limiting, (mostly on landscapes) and I'm very afraid that it handicaps my ability to paint, I don't do this much, but I feel variety of skill needs to be showcased too, in a professional portfolio. Some notes about my journey in this…
