   I need to view the actual vertex count in 3ds max (counting all the split UV and SG vertices) Is there a script for this?

   There's an old one here http://wiki.polycount.com/wiki/PolygonCount#Tools_for_Counting_Vertices I think there's a newer one somewhere. Have you looked on Scriptspot?
