@josh_lynch Love the multiple pattern inputs, just used it to scatter leaves. My one single gripe I've had with it and I'm sure I missed something, is there an easy way to control the scatter amount? It seems X amount and Y amount does this, but also affects the scale at the same time and it doesn't feel great trying to…
@josh_lynch At work, but I hope this can still illustrate it... But now I wanted to adjust the amount of squares, but at the same size. X and Y amount seem to get me more squares, but takes the scale down with it. So usually if I want more, I'll blend more tile samplers together, and if I want less I can usually get that…
Quack! - Softened up the medium forms per your feedback for a smoother read. Also updated the snow crystals to be easier to read and added a ground render and slightly increased displacement amount.
Nice rock generator Josh, I really like the amount of detail on it, I'd still like to see some wavyness or more terrain to the dirt, like not being too flat. Keep it coming!
Got some feedback it was reading a bit plastic like so I upped the gloss. Tweaked grunge by lessening overall amount in albedo and gloss. Added a couple specific grunge spots to for eye movement and breakup.
Lotet - Thank you for your comment and the feedback, glad you like the art! As far as the amount of mortar goes there are plenty of real life examples, even right around where I live, that show this look. This look actually has a name, "weeping joint brick", where the mortar is oozing out. See HERE. ArtByV - Thanks!
Looking good so far. Edges are a little soft and wobbly, almost cartoony? I'd personally reduce the amount the edges are warped and try and sharpen them up a little for more jagged edges. Something to think about when you move on to colour is how it weathers. Here's a pretty good ref of how depending on placement the board…
@EvanL - Okay yeh this makes sense and this is behaving as expected with Tile Sampler. You do have to counter the scale when you are increasing or decreasing the amount in X and Y. But I dont see this as a problem per say because in other situations you may want the behavior, I guess it depends on what you are trying to…
I agree with this. I would add interactive and fun to liberating. I have a bunch of materials that I can easily adjust sliders of to alter the final render in real time. Edge needs to be a bit wider for edge wear? Hmm, lemme try blurring this map. No clicking and waiting for DDO to save maps and update, it's more or less…
I too have used dDo for a long time now and am a huge fan of the Quixel tools. I would describe it as a workflow that is liberating and has a lot up sides. The main one to me is working in Substance Designer is very adaptable. For example, now that I have everything created for this tile material I can change the amount of…
