i want to keep this tool portable so its independent of the tools the user is using. that way anyone is able to use this tool. in the professional version you can execute the tool via commandline with a xml file as agrument to execute automatic packing. a script would so be able to start a proces and wait until the process…
@NickBack, have you used James O'Hare's script to push geometry to iPackThat? https://community.foundry.com/discuss/topic/112934 Folks still swear by Headus' UVLayout: https://www.uvlayout.com/
Is that a stopgap fix I could make then? Change the script so it doesn't pass in the filename? It's a hassle but if that at least allows me to pack, save over it, and have it auto-load back into MODO that's something I can live with.
iPackThat doesn't seem to be respecting the Rotate checkbox being unchecked. I also tried selecting the shells I don't want rotated and disabling rotation from the right-click menu. Any ideas? I'm using this with MODO and Farfarer's iPackThat script -- loving it!
beefaroni: That's what I do as well, excited about splitting by material though, that has been one feature I have mentioned a few times to Snoelk :) dustinbrown: I agree with you, trying to keep your pipeline to as little programs as possible. That's why I hope there will be good scripts/plugins for it in the future.
This would be amazing if it works as presented. Very interested. One thing I also find annoying is that I need to find my overlapping UV's but every script/tool I have used only works sometimes. I often have to go searching around my UV map to find the extra UV's that are overlapped. With smaller objects this isn't a big…
As an alternative, not-as-good-but-easier approach, could you do basically what xNormal does, in that it looks for a filename inside a set directory? So I export my mesh in <application of the day> (using a one-click script because we're busy) that sends my current mesh to a constant directory with a constant name.…
Even if Maya have got huge performance improvement, it didn't mean that we should left off to support PBSnoelk and is Tool, cause even if you'll can get good result in Maya, there is tons of cases where i'm sure IPT can rock better, and of course way more than other 3D package. keep it up, there is many concerns around…
