Will try this on my next project! Loading stuff into Xnormal is always a hassle, so it may speed things up a little bit. Less time dealing with anicent interfaces is more time doing the actual art. Can anyone attest to the vertex color baking? Does the baker respond well to vertex colors from Zbrush?
It can bake vertex colours, haven't tried it from poly paint, but it says it's supported. I have tried vert colours out of Maya and that bakes fine though.
@fr0gg1e it can currently transfer vertex colours. I'll add the transfer base texture to the feature request list. What at do you want to see in terms of a bake queue?
@Neox - Would you mind posting the crashing FBX envelope file somewhere that I could download it? Also, what bit-depth do you need for the vertex colours? is 8 bits per channel enough?
if it could bake diffuse either from vertex color or base texture I would buy it in a minute. There isn't any baker out there to transfer udims to udims that aren't crashy as hell or slow... A bake queue would be awesome too and Linux support would be even better hehe.
Hi Damian, We added vertex colour baking because a Zbrush user wanted to bake colours they had painted. We built mighty bake to read ZBrush's special blend of OBJ so that we could bake them. Feel free to give it a try and let me know if it works well for you. Rob
@Farfarer - It currently uses the maya philosophy of ray control. The user can choose to use the vertex normals of the low-poly mesh to set the direction, or choose 'geometric normals' which tells mightybake to use smoothed normals re-calculated from the geometry. If people feel this isn't enough control, I could look into…
Hi Polycount, I'm Rob, the developer of a new texture baking tool, MightyBake. You can check it out at mightybake.com. It's a new tool and we would appreciate hearing your feedback and any way we can make it better. You can download it here. Our custom baking engine can bake large meshes really quickly with a simple…
@Neox - Great feedback! Thanks for trying the latest release. Most of your requests I understand and they sound like good ideas. A few questions: 1) What would you like the vertex colours to do? Do you mean a bake where you can just bake out the vertex colours? 2) The envelope mesh should handle it for the blocking meshes…
