I'm working on Houdini, I just did the Acid simulation and the meshing on Realflow because it doesn't work on Houdini :/ But I import it on Houdini and now I create the smoke with PyroFx :)
I worked a bit on the second spell, I try to work with Flip simulation in Houdini for doing the water that go out of the ground in the impact but it's pretty hard. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpsZaenbEW0&feature=youtu.be

Maybe! I want to try to render all of this in Houdini, but I just don't know how to do it. I've learned this software for the challenge and I really want to explore all the options that it offer. I will try and if I fail I send all of this (except the smoke that I will work on FumeFx directly in maya) in maya.
