Whoa both shotgun and pior! Thanks guys, a ton of great points! I was originally trying to go for some sort of rockwell/leyendecker thing, and i think that's what i still want to go for. I think i need to sit back and focus on my angles and rendering to even try to approach that. This is definitely meant to come off as a…
I missed looking at this thread ! Very interesting stuff again :) On the subject of the Muzzface, I think there are a few things you could try. - First of all, as Bagel mentioned it here I think you could totally keep your construction lines. We tend to think of them as temporary helpers, to be erased when shading is…
Long posts are good ! No worries :) I am fascinated by anime layout sheets too. They have an intrinsic elegance to them - stroke economy pushed to the maximum, yet highly descriptive since the color codes are needed for animators and inbetweeners. Great stuff ! Now I need to catch up on KillLaKill :D Here's another 10 mins…
Two Listen : Thanks a lot for taking the time to reply, I appreciate it ! And rambling is good :) You are hitting the nail on the head. In the previously posted sketches I just couldn't find a way to loosen up, which I think was mostly due to me not being able to recreate the feel of working traditionally. And of course…
Bagelhero - Thanks man! I never realized my figure was mirroring and thats something I will keep in mind in the future. And sorry I haven't produced anything showing me taking in the feedback. I'm trying to limit the amount of projects I have :<. (sorry this is quite hard for me to explain so it may become an incoherent…
Muzz : Yeah, I really wish I could jump straight to final lineart but I think that the 3 passes are a bit of a tradeoff for using a Cintiq, as it is really quite imprecise when working fully zoomed out. I am not exactly sure why actually - it could be a combination of the screen resolution not being high enough and the…
MIND BLOWN. Holy crap that break down was insightful. That's a whole lot to take in at this hour, with as little sleep as I've gotten, I'll be processing that for a good while to come, thanks Muzz!
yeah thats right. i try to mix a rhino with a human, but im not sure it comes across. or better yet, that it does look apealing. about your perspective issue, maybe you can draw the rest of the angles the robot is facing by hand, and use your 3d buildup as a ref?
Second thumbnail would give you a nice chance to use triangular composition with some spotlight coming from the top, that way you call pull off a really menacing piece, and these figures to the left could be like slaves chained together or something.
