hey so i was wondering if when making an animation for a game like my character attacking with his sword, would the sword be a separate object or the same object just a different mesh part? im guessing i will have to parent it to the hand bone i use to rig just not sure if it should be the same object or not and if it is 2…
UE4 has sockets that you can easily bind an object like a sword or weapon to. There's a bunch of tutorials on youtube for it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xOoknUDGaE
Objects are separate assets entirely to the characters here, and we attach them to the hand bone of the character in-engine. But in max for animating we will import it and attach it the same as one would in-engine and it works out fine.
