So I've never really done hand painted tilable textures from scratch, so I'm going to try out painting a few different materials! For the first one I did a wood base then made it into a plank variation. Any feedback is appreciated!
@JamieRIOT Thanks! Yeah, I added a cloud layer on to try and get a little color value variation and I think it added a little too much light. More color is always good! I might add some cool colors in to balance the warmth.
@mjeruzal: Thanks for the feedback! I totally see what you mean about the horizontal bounds thing and I totally just zoned out on not making that one board have an end :P Both should be fixed now, hopefully! @junkiekong: I pushed down the contrast a bit on the crevices and added a super subtle tone variation which also…
That looks great, but what I might suggest is that you don't make the crevices between planks so dark because the contrast is pretty harsh at the moment. Some subtle tone variation between the planks would be nice too. And also the details around the nails look pretty crunchy, perhaps you went a little overkill with the…
The cobblestones are looking really nice. There does seem to be a light grid pattern appearing in the tiling though, not sure if you see that in the last image? Also, it would be great to get small hints of other colour in there, it seems all brown currently. Small crits though, it's looking good!
@stevston89 Thanks for the feedback! They are uniformly sized and could do with some variety :D Still working on these cobblestones, they have been more challenging to me :P Any feedback would be great! Here's it tiled a bit!
I have no experience in hand painted texturing, but I like what you did here :) However there're some issues with tiling it. First of all, the middle plank has no end so it's not tiling properly. Second thing is that horizontal bounds makes split between planks wider than normally - it shows where the seams goes.
