I blew most of my money on a new graphics card so I could use UE4. But reading into PBR it seems calibration is really important. I read in a Crysis 3 slideshow they make sure the artists work with IPS monitors or something better than the typical.…
PBR doesn't really have anything to do with monitor quality. For art work in general, you should have a high quality monitor with good viewing angles and color reproduction. You should also calibrate it. This has been the case for a long time. You can find some good e-IPS monitors in the $200 range these days though.…
Alright guess I was reading into too much crazy tech stuff. I'll start learning PBR after my current project is over and start saving up for the calibration software. I also pre-ordered the Quixel suite so hopefully there's some megascan samples to study.
The team I'm working with is using vanilla Unity 4.something with no fancy shaders, so no point in learning PBR if it can't be implemented. I'm still learning the old method and getting used to baking AO/normals too. The deadlines are actually so crazy and it's a student project, so I recommended the devs use…
