A lot of people have come and go from CBP over the years - I think the vast majority of the current guys are in industry at the moment. ...and yes, we are talking about the possibility of a CBP4 right now ;)
I like it. I certainly would have preferred it if it looked even plainer, but I think it's a step in the right direction. I'm actually really happy to see more devs realize that adding unnecessary details for the sake of making sexy stills can actually harm the gameplay. I'm looking at you Battlefield :poly124:
You get source access with a UE4 subscription. It's on their github, right next to the engine source. I don't see why anyone couldn't distribute copyrighted mods and assets in their own way, circumventing Epic, if it really came to that. With source access you can really change anything you need to fit your needs.
