Ok I have a complicated task. I need to create a device that will be able to transform into at least 8 different modes. Each mode with its own distinct outline. There is the old cheating method of using "nanobots" or such to get around doing this, but trying not to use this excuse unless I have to. While there is also the…
Thanks Eric. Not sure this engine even supports specific motion blur on objects. There might be slight confusion though. The initial object has to be able to turn into 8 different formations, not split into 8 different objects.
I understand. I was thinking you could hide the transitions with fake motion blur. Ribbons with swoosh textures, rotating quickly around, scaling upwards to cover the transition, then scaling down inside the model afterwards. Like the twirling effect in The Mask https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eEQomU6iFtw#t=33
Being mechanical kinda limits things. Organic could let you morph things around a bit, protoplasm-like. You could cheat things maybe, by using a motion-blurred flurry of movement between shapes. Then it doesn't really matter that they all line up perfectly. For example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3UouHHmJdY
